Finding The Right Pool Builder

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

By William Dittman It is a super hot day in the south. All you can dream of is (If I had a swimming pool in my backyard I would love to jump in and relax). OK so you have finally decided to add that luxury swimming pool in your backyard. Do a little homework on your own. Read up about the different kind of pools that are available. Research the equipment that is available. Ask the pool designer to explain the difference between some of the choices of pumps. The difference in the pool layouts, and why should I choose your company over your competition. How do we find a pool company in our area? 1. Local Yellow Pages 2. World Wide Web 3. Ask our friends 4. Chambers of Commerce Make a list of about 6 to 10 pool builders; Call the companies to ask if they would be interested in bidding on the construction of your new swimming pool? Have a list of questions wrote down so you can interview them. You want to know if you can work with this pool company. Now is the time to find out. Not in the middle of the pool construction. First follow that gut feeling if you have a check in your gut. Try to find out what it is. Please do yourself a favor. Do not make your decision strictly on the low price. If you do find out why they are the low bidder. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Cheap is usually cheap for some reason. During the interview process 1. Ask to see picture of pool designs and also pools they have built. 2. Ask them for references of newly built pools 3. Ask them for references of pools that have been built for 5 10 years. 4. And call the referral and ask if you can stop by to inspect the pool. 5. Does pool builder stand by his warranty 6. Does pool builder have maintenance department to help with pool Before you make your final decision 1. Check the Better Business Bureau 2. Consumer Organizations 3. Make sure the contractor is insured and licensed 4. Make sure they build to local and state codes Be sure to read the Contract before you sign it. Best of Luck finding you pool builder. The Facts About the “Spot Reducing” Myth

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

By Jim O’Neill There are a lot of people who are dissatisfied with one area or another of their body. You will often hear these people saying things like, I need to get rid of this stomach or I need an exercise that will slim my thighs down. The premise behind these types of statements is that you can lose excess fat in any one given area on your body without affecting any other part of your body. Maybe if you just knew the right exercise to do, you could lose the fat in just the area you want to lose it in. The plain and simple truth is; there is no such thing as localized fat loss. When you do a specific exercise for a specific part of your body, the muscles of that particular body part will develop and get stronger and grow bigger, but it will do nothing for getting rid of the fat in the area. Usually the reason people who do exercise get stronger but do not visually see the muscle development is because the excess fat is still covering the muscles. Here are the facts about the spot reducing myth: Physiologically speaking, muscle tissue is always firm. Muscle only feels like it not firm because of the presence of too much fat. Body parts that do not look toned simply have too much fat covering them. People are genetically predisposed to carry more fat in certain areas of their bodies, thus accounting for the extra buildup in these areas. When you want to lose body fat, you must create a calorie deficit within your body. This means that you will have to consume less calories than you burn throughout the day. While you will typically seem to notice more rapid fat loss in your trouble spots, you will actually be losing fat from your whole body because when your body goes into fat burning mode, it can not select different areas to do it from. When you start to lose body fat, it is genetically determined where the most rapid loss will occur first. Areas that do not store as much body fat will only have so much to lose, so you will see more fat loss in the harder spots as you go. Despite the popular saying, it is impossible to turn fat into muscle. They are made up of completely different types of cells and one can not convert into the other. You can only lose fat and replace it with increased muscle size. Also, you can not firm up fat, nor can you firm up muscle. Fat and muscle cells are what they are, and you cant change their composition. Simply put, softer muscle = more fat present and harder muscle = less fat present. Muscle tone is simply the visual appearance of muscle in the absence of fat. Sensible eating coupled with moderate exercise will help take off any extra fat, even from trouble areas. Just because you cant spot reduce does not mean you cant lose the fat in those areas. You just need to make the little changes in your eating habits and introduce a little exercise into your life that will make getting rid of that stubborn fat a reality. Wedding Vows

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

By Julia Tweed Planning your wedding requires you to make a multitude of decisions, but none may be as important as the words you choose to exchange as your wedding vows. A vow is by definition a solemn promise and, therefore, should not be taken lightly. These words seal your commitment to each other. Many couples wish to write their own vows, as they believe that their own words will be more meaningful than the traditional vows. Before you start drafting your vows, you need to talk with your officiant. Your faith or denomination may have requirements or your officiant may have specific words that you cannot deviate from. Once you have received the go ahead to write your own vows, the pressure is on to come up with just the right words to communicate your feelings toward each other. Whatever you do, don’t wait until the very last minute to write your vows. That will only create more stress and you really need to have the officiant review them, and approve them before the wedding ceremony. Writing your vows may be easier if you break down the traditional vows and analyse what it is that the vows are conveying. The traditional vows contain a statement of affection; you promise to "love and cherish" each other. You promise your faithfulness with the wording "forsaking all others". You vow to love unconditionally with the wording "for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health". Lastly, you are saying that it will be a permanent relationship with the words "as long as we both shall live". It may make the writing of vows much easier if you take the four base promises of affection, faithfulness, unconditional and permanence, think about what those promises mean to you, then convey your feelings in your own words. Another way to begin your process of writing your vows would be to take a piece of paper and answer these questions: Why do you love your fiance? What about them inspires you? What are your dreams for the future? What makes the two of you unique? What difficult problems or life trials have you been through and how did you work them out? Answering these questions may help to identify the special qualities and uniqueness of your relationship. As you write your vows, keep in mind that you are writing them for and about your fiance, be sincere. This isn’t a speech you are giving to the guests at your wedding. After you have finished writing your vows and they have been approved by your wedding officiant, practice reciting them. You want to be comfortable with the wording and you don’t want to stumble over any of the words. The most important thing is that when you look into the eyes of your soon to be husband or wife, you want them to know that the words you recite as your wedding vows are coming from your heart. Business Cards - Untapped Sales Potential

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Frank Owen Many people overlook business cards when marketing and advertising their business. Unfortunately this is one of the costliest mistakes you can make. Business cards are a simple and inexpensive tool that can help make or break a business. Here are just a few things you can use business cards for: - As an icebreaker at a meeting or tradeshow or get to know people even at your local coffee shop. - Networking with other industry leaders or business people. - Improve your business image and professionalism by presenting clients and potential clients with an easily accessible resource with your contact information. - Communicate with strangers who may unknowingly need your service at some future point in time. - Introduce yourself in a crowded meeting or environment that may stimulate future business.. - Promote your business or a grand opening. - Indirect marketing that is cheap, low pressure yet effective. - Differentiate yourself from the crowd by soliciting important details about your business. - Increase the recall rate of customers. Think of all the people you have met in your life. If you passed a business card around to each of them that offered them something unique, distinct and memorable think about how much greater your profit margin may be. Every business card you hand out is a new opportunity to expand and grow your business. Hence any time you fail to use a business card you are potentially losing customers.
